Mikayla’s love for stop-motion animation and puppet building began in 2013. Since then, developing her craft of puppet building through numerous books, watching behind the scenes and taking part in the 2014 ACMI Intermix program (A mentored collaborative animation course run by Isobel Knowles). Her experience in animation techniques range from charcoal and sand animation, to 3D and 2D hand-drawn computer animation. Of all these techniques she has developed, the strongest is her puppet building skills. Building characters in traditional plasticine clay and recently silicone casting. Her artistry and attention to detail shine through her characters hand sewn costumes and props. Mikayla strives to exceed herself with each new project, fuelling her passion to broaden and improve her puppet building skills.

She is currently studying her third year of Bachelor of Fine Arts: Animation at Victorian College of the Arts.
