LEO

Playing around with morphing Leo out of plasticine.

Things to think about:

-How to erase the rigg better?

HUGH

Testing out an Aardman Armature to use as the skeleton for Hugh's body.

Things to think about:

-How to make props stay in the character's hands? In Kubo and the Two Strings (2016) they use little pins. I could also try magnets.

THE SHADOW

Firstly using a Lightbox I drew charcoal drawings on seperate pieces of paper which I numbered then photographed each drawing to make an animation. I then took a video of the ink being dropped into a plastic cup filled with water. I trialled this with glucose but it didn't work. Baking soda makes good dust explosion in ink but vinegar doesn't do much.

On After Effects I loaded in the charcoal animation and then keyed out the the black (File- Effects- linear key colour).

I then experimented with the gain of the charcoal 2 options:

- All charcoal keyed out only see ink

-Half of charcoal texture keyed out (preferred option)

Things to think about:

-How to animate shadow around objects?

-How to block out white as well?

-Should I animate charcoal on seperate pages or just use the one page and rub out my drawings as I animate?

Thanks Paul. Thank would be great. I did try a little bit of bicarbonate but didn’t try it with vinegar, I’ll have a go.

Will have to try baking soda in ink.... my favorite use of bicarb and vinegar is for a sizzling popping sound effect and visual bubbles
